Contained Energy cooperated with “INDOGERM-Direct” of the Indonesian-German Chamber of Industry and Commerce (EKONID) in their project to ‘rebuild Aceh’.
CE assisted in the organic cocoa farming project that supports over 300 families in the area. After the cacao is harvested, it is dried in a solar-powered drying room. The drying system consisted of twelve 130 Wp solar panels, five solar water heaters, a 300 litre water tank with circulation pump, DC fans and battery back-up.
The program involves continued training in the cacao drying process in which Contained Energy professionals work in conjunction with EKONID in training and maintenance of the process.
The cacao farming sector offers an opportunity to thousands that were displaced because of the Tsunami. With a more controlled drying process, the farmers get better value for their produce.
