Indonesian artist Teguh Ostenrik is the creator of the first ARTificial Reef Park at Senggigi Beach, Lombok. It is a reef conservation project aimed at revitalising what used to be an underwater area thriving with lobsters, squids, jelly fish and other marine species.
Mr Ostenrik’s artwork Domus sepiae – translates to house of squids in English – not only decorates the ‘underwater art gallery’ but also doubles as a biorock. Contained Energy donated 2 solar panels to supply electrical current running through the installation to attract minerals in the water which will foster coral reef growth. The electricity is of very low voltage and therefore pose no danger to divers and marine species.
