Waru Wora is a small village on the island of Sumba, one of the poorest in the Indonesian archipelago. Contained Energy cooperated with André Graff who set up the project PPWW or Pilot Project Waru Wora.
CE installed a solar-powered pump system to elevate potable water from well in the valley up to the village. The system consists of 2 Lorentz Water Pumps and 28 solar modules rated at 170 Wp each.
The solar pump system supplies the village with fresh potable water. The women won’t have to go so far from the village on the hilltop down to the valley to fetch the water from the well. Even so, they still have to climb around a kilometre up a steep hill with a bucket or clay jar weighing 20 to 40 kg on their heads several times a day.
