Hotels and Resorts
The hospitality industry has a clear interest in environmental sustainability, as demanded by the traveling public, as well as in reducing energy costs which can make up a substantial portion of operating costs.
Attractive solutions include:
- solar pool pumping
- solar thermal hot water for rooms, spas and kitchens
- heat-pumps to replace fuel-fired hot water boilers
- grid-feed solar PV
Some of these solutions, notably heat-pumps that replace fuel-fired boilers, show very attractive return-on-investment, others increase the property’s value, still others make for cleaner, leaner operations.
In some cases, resorts are located from from existing infrastructure and will thus have to be made as independent as possible. In these cases, it is worth looking at energy, water, waste and other aspects from the ground up.
