Solar Catamaran
Contained Energy is building a solar/wind-powered catamaran for marine park patrols, where carbon emissions are unacceptable, and other use, where daily availability of petrol is a problem and fuel cost is prohibitive.
The first type is has a length of 10 meter and is powered by two electrical outboards of 4 kW each (comparable with 2 x 9 HP petrol outboards).
The vessel has 48 kW battery storage, 4000 WattPeak solar array and 2 x 900 Watt wind turbines.
It can optionally be fitted with a small DC-charging generator so that overnight passage-making is safe.
