Utility Solutions
On utility-scale, Contained Energy develops projects on “Power Purchase Agreement” (PPA) basis, whereby the Utility contracts with CE to supply KiloWattHours at a fixed rate for a fixed period.
Typically in Consortium with suppliers and financiers, CE designs, supplies, installs and operates the generation plant and charges the Utility on a ‘per kWh’ basis. After the contract period (commonly 10-25 years), the installation gets transferred to the Utility (BOT) or, after a renovation, CE continues to operate it under a contract extension (BOO).
Although this model is mostly used for solar and wind projects, it can also be applied for hydro, tidal and even ‘heat-recuperation’ generation projects.
CE is currently installing a 2 MWp project on 6 islands in the Maldives, where there was an additional challenge of location of arrays, and has several other PPA projects in the pipeline elsewhere.
